Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The first game of the season for the CNU men's lacrosse team was a success as they outscored Hood, 14-8, on Saturday at Captain's Field.

The Captains took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with two goals from Zach Hill (Salisbury, MD) and one each from Dylan Godbout (Laurel, MD) and John Glaser (Cincinnati, OH).  The Captains and Blazers had an even second quarter with five goals each. The Blazers cut the lead to three off of a goal by Corey Roberts (Fallston, MD) at 9:52 in the third quarter but CNU then went on to score four unanswered goals to make the score 13-6 with 11:09 left in the fourth quarter.

Hill led the Captains in goals with three for the game while Glaser, Godbout, Kevin Righi (Fairfax, VA) each added two. CNU goalie, Andy McGregor (Springfield, VA), had eight saves on the day. Hood was led by Trey Freeman (Olathe, KS) with three goals and Roberts with two.

The Blazers outshot the Captains 33-29, but CNU was the leader in ground balls 42-27.

The Captains return to action next Saturday, February 27, as they take on Marymount in Arlington, VA.
