COMPLETE GAME NOTES: GAME 10 vs. METHODIST UNIVERSITY
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport University football team (5-4, 5-1) will wrap up the 2010 regular season schedule tomorrow, as they play host to Methodist University (2-7, 1-5) on Saturday at 1 pm. With a win, the Captains would clinch the USA South Athletic Conference automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Captains have won four straight and five of their last six games heading into Saturdays tilt. CNU is led by senior wide receiver
T.J. Foster, who has grabbed 39 passes for 873 yards, good for the second-best receiving season in CNU history. Senior running back
Keith Gaines has rushed for over 800 yards in his final season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry with a team-high eight TDs.
Methodist has struggled defensively this season, allowing 33 points per game, with the team's lone wins coming vs. Guilford and Maryville. The Monarchs are quarterbacked by Erik Teague, with 1550 yards passing and six TDs.
