#9 Field Hockey Falls to #18 Rowan, 3-0

The loss drops the Captains to 14-3 and improves Rowan to 13-5

Box Score ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Christopher Newport University field hockey dropped a neutral site match to the Rowan University Profs 3-0. The loss gives CNU a 14-3 record and improves Rowan to 13-5.

The Profs got their first goal of the game at 17:49 in the first half off a shot from the top of the circle that was collected on the end line and pushed into the cage behind CNU goalkeeper Brittany Bradsher (Hampton, Va.).

It was a 1-0 halftime score. But just over five minutes into the second half the Profs struck again with a shot that deflected off of Bradsher's pads and was then put into the goal giving the Profs a 2-0 lead.

The Captains fought until the end but were unable to score. With time expired Rowan was awarded a penalty corner. A foul by the Captains caused a second corner with time expired where the Profs put in their third and final goal of the game.

The Captains return to action next Saturday as they travel to Durham, N.C. to take on Limestone College at 3:00pm in their final regular season game.
