Field Hockey Defeats W&L 4-1

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport field hockey squad scored three times in the first twenty minutes of the first half Friday night and went on to beat Washington & Lee at Captains Field, 4-1. The Family Weekend victory raised CNU's record to 4-2 on the season.
 
Senior Kim Tomlin scored twice to lead the way for the Captains. Tomlin has now scored four goals in the first six games of the season to lead CNU in that category. Juniors Kylie Cale and Taylor Harrell scored the other goals for Christopher Newport.
 
Washington & Lee, now 1-2 on the season, avoided a shutout with just 16 seconds to play in the second half. Senior Sallie Armstrong scored for the Generals, who had just six shots for the game.
 
CNU had 30 shots in the contest, 23 on goal. 
 
Christopher Newport will be at home again Wednesday, hosting Virginia Wesleyan at 6 pm.
