NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad lost its season finale 18-7 Saturday afternoon to St. Mary's (MD).

The Captains scored the first goal of the game before the Seahawks reeled off eight straight to lead 8-1 with 6:52 left in the first half. CNU scored two of the final three goals of the half to trail 9-3 at the break.

St. Mary's scored the first nine goals of the second half and Christopher Newport closed the game by scoring the final four goals for the final margin.

Rob Koster and Justin King scored two goals each. Ryan Merrell, Matt Gleisner and Rob Duca each scored on goal. Ray Fitzgerald added two assists.

The Seahawks out-shot the Captains, 47-35. Jackson Tyler played the first three periods and had eight saves. Matt Miller played the final period and made two stops.

St. Mary's is now 8-7 while Christopher Newport concludes the year 8-7 as well.
