BURLINGTON, NC – Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad swept Shenandoah, 9-0, on day one of the USA South Tournament.
In singles, Lorenzo Sison (CNU) defeated Michael Milanov 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 1; Martin Brown (CNU) defeated Tim Robinson 6-2, 6-0; John Braig (CNU) defeated Cody Jarrell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3; Dylan Young (CNU) defeated Julian Fehr 6-0, 6-2; Thomas Whaling (CNU) defeated Matthew Martinez 8-2 at No. 5 and Chris Yost (CNU) defeated Drew Evans 8-1.
In doubles, Dusty Nelson and Eric Schulman (CNU) defeated Milanov and Robinson 8-1; Braig and Sison (CNU) defeated Jarrell and Fehr 8-1 at No. 2; Brown and Whaling (CNU) defeated Martinez and Evans 8-0.
The Hornets fall to 4-9 while the Captains improve to 10-11. Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they take on Averett in a USA South semifinal contest at 10 am.
