ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad dropped an 8-1 decision at NC Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon.

In singles action, Antti Saari defeated Eric Shulman (CNU) 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 1; Alexey Rumantsev defeated Lorenzo Sison (CNU) 6-0, 6-2; Davit Minasyan defeated Martin Brown (CNU) 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3; Marcelo Prata defeated Dusty Nelson (CNU) 6-4, 6-2; Anton Filonov defeated John Braig (CNU) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5; and Fred Lemongo defeated Dylan Young (CNU) 6-0, 6-2.

CNU's only victory came at No. 1 doubles where Shulman and Nelson (CNU) defeated Saari and Rumyantsev 8-4; Minasyan and Prata defeated Brown and Sison (CNU) 9-7 at No. 2; and Ilpo Kautonen and Filonov defeated Thomas Whaling and Young (CNU) 8-0.

The Bishops improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in USA South play. The Captains fall to 4-9 on the year and 1-1 in conference action.

Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they host Roanoke at 9 am and Averett at 3 pm.
