NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad scored five times in the first period en route to an 8-4 win over visiting Susquehanna Saturday afternoon.

The Captains scored the first five goals of the game before the Crusaders got on the board with 32 seconds left in the opening period to lead 5-1.

Susquehanna scored twice, holding CNU to one goal in the second period, but Christopher Newport led 6-3 at the break.

Both teams scored once in the third and the Captains tacked on another in the fourth for the final margin.

Rob Koster led CNU with two goals and two assists. Ryan Merrell scored twice and assisted on another while Justin King added two goals. John Glaser scored one goal and one assist, Mike Laycock had one score, and Will Perkins had one assist.

Christopher Newport out-shot the Crusaders, 30-18. Jackson Tyler had six saves in the cage.     

Susquehanna falls to 1-2 on the year while the Captains improve to 3-1. CNU heads to Catholic next Saturday with face-off set for 1 pm.
