Men’s Lacrosse Falls 10-6 At Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad had its three-match winning streak snapped Sunday afternoon as Greensboro came away with a 10-6 win.

The Pride scored first, just 46 seconds in to take an early lead but the Captains tied the score with less than 10 minutes left in the opening period. The Pride answered with three straight to end the period and scored the only two goals in the second to take a 6-1 lead at the break.

Each team scored once in the third and Greensboro scored three of the first four goals in the final period to take a 10-3 lead with 10:51 left in the game. CNU scored the final three goals of the game for the final margin.

Ryan Merrell led Christopher Newport with two goals and one assist. Rob Koster scored twice. Justin King and Zach Hill both scored once, Will Perkins and Tripp Baldwin finished with one assist apiece.

GC out-shot the Captains, 46-26. Jackson Tyler had 12 saves in the cage.

The Pride improved to 7-3 with the win while CNU falls to 6-3. Christopher Newport returns to action April 4th when they take on Whittier (CA) at the Severn School in Severna, MD.
