Men’s Tennis Falls To Salisbury, 6-3

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's men's tennis team dropped a tough 6-3 decision to Salisbury Wednesday afternoon inside at Centre Court.

CNU was victorious at No. 1 doubles as Eric Shulman and Dusty Nelson, ranked seventh in the region, defeated Scott Burtzlaff and Evan Thomas, ranked fourth in the region, 8-4. The Sea Gulls closed doubles play by winning at No. 2 and 3. Daniel Barnas and Andrew Nottage defeated Martin Brown and Lorenzo Sison (CNU) 8-6 at No. 2 and Giorgio Athans and Sasha Felikson defeated John Braig and Thomas Whaling, 8-6.

In singles, Eric Shulman (CNU), ranked seventh in the region, defeat Scott Burtlaff in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 1; Sison (CNU) defeated Thomas 7-6 (9-7), 6-4; David Lupinetti defeated Nelson (CNU) 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3; Barnas defeated Brown (CNU) 6-1, 6-2; Nottage defeated Dylan Young (CNU) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5; and Felikson defeated Braig 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.

Salisbury, ranked seventh in the region, improves to 6-4 while the Captains, ranked ninth in the region, fall to 4-8. The Captains return to action Tuesday when they head to Rocky Mount, NC to take on NC Wesleyan at 3 pm.
