FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad dropped a 6-3 decision to Haverford in a match played on the campus of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.
In singles action, Eric Shulman (CNU) defeated Alex Buxbaum 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1; Tim Kinrade defeated Lorenzo Sison (CNU) 6-3, 6-1; Dusty Nelson (CNU) defeated Evan Stiegel 6-3 6-3 at No. 3; Marc Rudolph defeated Martin Brown (CNU) 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3; Hailiu Yang defeated Dylan Young (CNU) 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5; and Will Garrett defeated Thomas Whaling 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Nelson and Shulman (CNU), ranked seventh in the region, defeated Buxbaum and Kinrade 8-4, who are ranked sixth in the region; Stiegel and Yang defeated Brown and Sison (CNU) 8-5 at No. 2; and Garrett and Rudolph defeated John Braig and Young (CNU) 8-5.
Haverford improves to 4-0 on the year while the Captains fall to 4-6. CNU returns to action Sunday when they take on Swarthmore, also at Mary Washington, at 12 pm.
