SALISBURY, MD – Christopher Newport's softball squad, ranked 13^th in the nation, split a pair of games with two nationally ranked teams on day two of the Sea Gull Invitational.

The Captains opened the day with a 7-2 win over 21^st-ranked York (PA).

Mary Kennedy finished 3-for-4 and Megan Morris and Renee Ashworth both went 2-for-4. Jessie Atkinson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run.

Kristen Rowe tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five.

In the second game, CNU dropped an 11-1 decision in five innings to No. 7 DePauw.

DePauw took control early with a nine-run second inning. Kristin Nickloy was 2-for-2 with a double. Lindsay Kelly suffered the loss.

The Captains are now 14-2 on the year and return to action Monday when they head to Bridgewater with start time set for 1 pm.
