NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport captured its third straight USA South volleyball championship, and its seventh in the last nine years, by defeating N.C. Wesleyan, 3-0, at the Freeman Center Saturday.
CNU prevailed, 25-12, 25-18, 25-9, and will advance to the NCAA tournament, also for the seventh time in nine years.
Caitlyn Jansen and
Bailey Jensen each had 11 kills for CNU, which improved to 33-6 on the year.
Chelsea McClure also had nine kills.
Abby Hogge added 13 digs and
Jessie Heavenrich 38 assists for CNU, while Jensen contributed four blocks.
Jansen was named tournament MVP. With her on the all-tournament team were Heavenrich, McClure and
Cory Harris.
