The Seagulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead barely a minute into the game when Benjamin Reed took a Nick Malone pass to the far post and fired it past Captains' keeper
Justin Wolfe.
The Seagulls would increase their lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute Justin Lambert scored off a Ben DeLisle free kick.
The Captains were able to out shoot the Seagulls 8-2 in the first half and 16-9 for the entire game but were only able to get on the board in the 74th minute when
Sean Moriarty headed in a ball from
Winston Mattheisen.
The loss snaps a nine game winning streak and leaves the Captains at 12-2 on the season.
Christopher Newport will look to regain their winning ways when they take on Greensboro this Saturday in Greensboro at 12:00pm.
