SAN ANTONIO, TX – Christopher Newport's men's soccer squad dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 1 Trinity Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers struck first with a goal in the seventh minute. Winston Mattheisen knotted the score at 1-1 n the 69th minute off a feed from Brian Tweed.
Trinity regained the lead in the 72nd minute on Ben Grossman's game-winner. The Tigers scored an insurance goal in the 89th minute for the final margin.
Trinity out-shot the Captains, 15-12. CNU keeper Matt Tengs had three saves in goal.
The Tigers improve to 8-0 on the year while Christopher Newport falls to 7-3-1. CNU returns to action Friday when they open USA South play by hosting Ferrum at 7 pm.
