Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team dropped Catholic University 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Captains Katelyn Yandle scored unassisted in the 8th minute to start the scoring and the game would remain 1-0 in favor of CNU at halftime.
In the second half, Kim Tomlin scored the eventual game-winner with Kylie Cale assisting in the 38th minute.
CUA would cut the lead in half to 2-1 in the 46th minute but Yandle put the game out of reach just four minutes later off a feed from Haylie Black.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Cardinals, 17-3. Elexa Nosonchuk picked up the win in the cage making one stop.
Catholic falls to 3-4 on the year while CNU improves to 6-3. The Captains return to action Wednesday when they head to Mary Washington with start time set for 4:30 pm.
