VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Christopher Newport's Field Hockey squad extended their winning streak to four games on Wednesday with a 4-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan.
The Captains wasted no time getting on the board as Lauren Cherry knocked the ball into the back of the Wesleyan cage in the first 5 seconds of play.
CNU would strike again in the 13th minute when Kylie Cale would set up Nicole Kuykendall for the Captains' second goal.
Then with less than 10 minutes remaining in the period, Ashley Cybulski would score on a pass from Taylor Harrell, putting the Captains up 3-0 heading into halftime.
The second half did not have as much action as the first, but CNU would tack on one more goal when Anne Gehring would score on Cale's second assist of the day.
Emma Stout and Elexa Nosunchuck split time between the pipes for the Captains, each playing one half.
CNU has now won four games in a row, improving their overall record to 5-3.
Christopher Newport's next game will be this Saturday at home, where they will host the Cardinals of Catholic University at 1pm.
