SALEM, VA – Christopher Newport's men's soccer squad picked up a 1-0 road win at Roanoke Tuesday night.

Tyler Clare scored the game's only goal in the 48^th minute when he won a long ball, beat a Maroon defender and then beat the keeper with a shot to the far post for the score.

The Captains out-shot Roanoke, 13-5. Matt Tengs had four saves in goal in picking up a shutout.

The Maroons fall to 4-2-1 as Christopher Newport improves to 6-2-1. The Captains head for Texas for two games beginning Friday at Southwestern with kick-off set for 6 pm eastern time.
