FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Christopher Newport's men's squad saw its five match unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-1 loss at Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles scored twice in the first 14 minutes of the game to take control.
Winston Mattheisen tried to help the Captains come back with a goal in the 71st minute off a pass from Kevin Greenberg.
CNU out-shot UMW, 17-9. Matt Tengs had two saves in goal for Christopher Newport.
Mary Washington improves to 4-2-1 on the year while the Captains fall to 5-2-1. CNU returns to action Tuesday when they head to Roanoke to take on the Maroons at 7 pm.
