NEWPORT NEWS – Christopher Newport's women's soccer team nailed down its first win of the season Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Marymount in the Captains home opener.
CNU wasted no time getting on the board against the Saints as junior forward Emily Chesbro put the Captains ahead, 1-0, in the 3rd minute.
Only moments later, in the 7th minute, Shelby Walters would set up Kendall Dishaw for another Captains goal and a 2-0 lead.
Chesbro would score again in the 10th minute, putting the CNU up 3-0 before they were even halfway through the opening half.
CNU would hold the lead for the rest of the contest as well as holding the Saints without a shot, at a mark of 12-0.
Dineen Sampson and Erin Wojtkun each took a half in goal for the Captains.
CNU improves to 1-4-1 on the year and will be back out on the field tomorrow night as they host the Maroons of Roanoke College.
