Box Score NEWPORT NEWS – Christopher Newport's #19 Field Hockey team made quick work of Randolph-Macon on Wednesday with a 5-0 win at Captains Field. College
CNU jumped on the board early as Haylie Black set up Kylie Cale to score the Captain's first goal in the 7th minute. Only 13 minutes later, Kim Tomlin would score on a pass from Courtney Russ, putting CNU up 2-0 with 15 minutes to go in the half.
With the clock winding down before halftime, the Captains weren't finished yet as Cale set up Russ to knock in CNU's third goal.
Black would add another Captain's goal right out of the halftime gates; and the Captains would finish off the day's scoring with a goal from Nicole Kuykendall, who put CNU up 5-0 on a pass from Taylor Harrell in the 55th minute.
CNU out-shot the Yellow Jackets 35-7 on the day and surpassed them in penalty corners at a mark of 16-4.
Emma Stout recorded the shutout and made seven saves.
The Captains improve to 3-3 on the year, and will take on the Green Terror of McDaniel College, this Saturday at home. Game time is set for 1 pm
