Volleyball Wins A Pair On Day Two Of CNU Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's volleyball squad won a pair of matches on day two of the CNU Invitational.

 

The Captains dispatched West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1, by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21.

 

Allie Wolfe paced CNU with 11 kills and 15 digs. Liz Bush also finished with 11 kills on 30 attempts and two errors for a .300 hitting percentage. Jessie Heavenrich finished with 22 assists and Ryann Lowery added 21 helpers.

 

Mary Horner led the Captains with 25 digs while Sarah Coffey totaled 12.

 

Christopher Newport concluded the tournament with a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18.

 

Ellen Koch finished with 10 kills to lead the Captains. Horner finished with 20 digs while Wolfe added 16 digs. Heavenrich had 17 assists while Lowery added 11.

 

The Captains improve to 5-3. CNU hits the road next Friday for Ferrum, VA for a USA South Tri-Match. They will meet Methodist at 3:30 pm and Greensboro at 5:30 pm.
