Volleyball Splits A Pair Of Matches On Day Two Of Boxer Kickoff Invitational

FOREST GROVE, OR – Christopher Newport's volleyball team, ranked 25th in the country, lost 3-0 to 12th-ranked Cal-State East Bay before rallying to defeat Pacific (OR) on day two of the Boxer Kickoff Invitational Sunday.

 

Cal-State East Bay won by scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-23.

 

Ellen Koch paced CNU with 11 kills. Allie Wolfe added 10 kills and 12 digs. Ryann Lowery finished with 32 kills and 11 digs.

 

Against Pacific, the Captains won in three, by scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-22. CNU scored five of the last six points in the third set to take the win.

 

Liz Bush led Christopher Newport with 10 kills. Wolfe finished with 20 digs while Jessie Heavenrich had 28 assists.

 

CNU returns home with a record of 2-2. The Captains return to action Friday when they host Marymount on day one of the Captains Classic with start time set for 7 pm.
