Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener, 6-2, At Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad dropped its season opener, 6-2, to Elizabethtown, on day one of the Blue Jay Classic Saturday afternoon.

 

The Blue Jays scored the first four goals of the game before Megan Conheeney connected on the first of two goals, heading in Amanda Peters' corner kick in the 41st minute.

 

Elizabethtown would score again in the 83rd minute and Conheeney responded with her second score in the 86th minute, with Peters assisting again.

 

E'town scored its sixth goal in the 88th minute for the final margin.

 

The Blue Jays out-shot the Captains, 13-7. Dineen Sampson started in goal and played the first half, allowing four goals and making two saves. Erin Wojtkun played the second half, allowing two goals, and stopping two shots.

 

Elizabethtown is 1-0 while CNU falls to 0-1. Christopher Newport returns to action Sunday for day two of the Blue Jay Classic when they take on the College of New Jersey.
