Women's Tennis Concludes Regular Season With 6-3 Loss To Salisbury

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's tennis squad dropped a 6-3 decision to the Atlantic-South's 13th-ranked team, Salisbury, 6-3, on Senior Day Tuesday.

 

In singles action, Lindsey Pantele (CNU) defeated Anna Marie Kable 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1; Frannie Shivar (CNU) defeated Kelly Fahrner 6-4, 6-4; Rachel Iosue defeated Stefanie Leblang (CNU) 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3; Robyn Wendell defeated Lisa Dyke (CNU) 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2; Jackie Burr defeated Brittany Stevens (CNU) 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and Hannah Parsons defeated Chandler Long (CNU) 7-5, 6-0.

 

In doubles, 7th-ranked Kable and Burr defeated 15th-ranked Pantele and Leblang (CNU) 8-6; Shivar and Stevens (CNU) defeated Parsons and Wendell 8-3 at No. 2; Fahrner and Iosue defeated Dyke and Long (CNU) 8-3.

 

The Sea Gulls improve to 15-4 overall while Christopher Newport falls t o 18-2. The Captains return to action Friday in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament where they will meet the winner of No. 7 Ferrum/No. 10 NC Wesleyan at 9 am at the Burlington (NC) Tennis Center.
