Men's Lacrosse Drops Tough 6-4 Decision At Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 6-4 loss at Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.

 

Justin King put the Captains on the board just over three minutes into the game. The Eagles countered with three straight before CNU found the back of the cage with just over four minutes left in the first period, to trail 3-2.

 

Christopher Newport tied the score just 22 seconds into the second, but Mary Washington scored twice before the end of the half, to lead 5-3.

 

CNU scored once in the third and the Eagles added one in the fourth for the final margin.

 

Four different Captains scored. King, along with Ryan Merrell, Patrick Cavanaugh and Rub Duca each scored once.

 

UMW out-shot Christopher Newport, 42-20. Matt Miller had 17 saves in the cage.

 

Mary Washington improves to 5-4 on the year while the Captains fall to 5-5. CNU returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Hood College. Face-off is set for 3:30 pm
