In singles action, the Atlantic-South's 13th-ranked player, Brendan Kincaid, defeated No. 12 Eddie Glidewell (CNU) 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1; No. 10 Matt Nicholson defeated John Mook (CNU) 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3; Scott Burtzlaff defeated Jacob Braig (CNU) 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 3; Evan Thomas defeated Lorenzo Sison (CNU) 6-2, 6-3; Ricky Connor (CNU) defeated David Lupinetti 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5; and Sasha Felikson defeated Dusty Nelson 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
In doubles play, No. 10 Burtzlaff and Kincaid defeated No. 3 Glidewell and Mook 8-4; Nicholson and Thomas defeated Nelson and Sison (CNU) 8-5 at No. 2; and John and Jacob Braig (CNU) defeated Andrew Nottage and Marcus Robinson 8-4.
The Captains, the region's fifth-ranked squad, fall to 9-2 on the year. The Sea Gulls, ranked 11th in the region, improve to 10-1.
Christopher Newport returns to the courts Tuesday when they host conference rival NC Wesleyan with start time set for 2 pm.
