Men's Tennis Drops Haverford, 7-2

HAVERFORD, PA – 20th-ranked Christopher Newport went on the road and defeated Haverford, 7-2, Saturday afternoon.

 

The Captains are ranked fifth in the Atlantic-South while Haverford is the region's 10th-ranked squad.

 

In singles play, Evan Steigel handed Eddie Glidewell (CNU) a 6-3. 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1; John Mook (CNU) defeated Marc Rudolph 6-1, 6-1; Jacob Braig (CNU) defeated Kellan Webb 6-1, 6-4 at No.3; Lorenzo Sison (CNU) defeated Marc Adelberg 5-7, 6-3, 6-2; Ricky Connor (CNU) defeated Hailiu Yang 6-0, 6-2; and Dusty Nelson (CNU) defeated Jeff Monhait 6-0, 6-1.

 

In doubles action, the region's third-ranked team, Glidewell and Mook (CNU) defeated No. 12 Kinrade and Stiegel 9-7; Nelson and Sison (CNU) defeated Adelberg and Webb 8-4 at No. 2; and Feder and Rudolph defeated Jacob and John Braig (CNU) 8-5.

 

Christopher Newport improves to 9-1 on the year while Haverford falls to 4-2. CNU returns to the courts Thursday when they head to Salisbury with match time set for 3:30 pm.
