NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse team dropped its second straight to start the season, falling 17-5 to Adrian (MI) Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs scored the first three goals in the game, all within the first two and half minutes. The Captains Matt Gleisner scored the game's next two goals to cut the lead to 3-2 with 10:27 left in the first quarter.

Adrian responded by scoring five of the next six goals to take an 8-3 lead after one period. The Bulldogs led 11-3 and scored five straight goals to close out the second stanza.

Gleisner scored twice and assisted on another. Jon Ims also scored twice and had one assist. Rob Duca finished with one goal and one assist while Ryan Merrell and Pat Cavanaugh tallied one assist each.

The Bulldogs out-shot Christopher Newport, 33-31. Ray Ralph played the final 47 minutes in goal and made seven saves.

Adrian improves to 1-0 while CNU is now 0-2. The Captains return to action Sunday as they travel to Guilford with face off set for 1 pm.
