Volleyball Falls 3-2 To Colorado College In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Christopher Newport's volleyball squad, ranked 21st in the nation, dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Colorado College Thursday afternoon in a first round NCAA Tournament match held on the campus of Trinity University.
 
CNU lost by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-15 and 15-12.
 
Allie Wolfe led the Captains with 15 kills and 14 digs to go along with three blocks. Caitlyn Jansen finished with 12 kills.
 
Jessie Heavenrich finished with a match-high 26 assists to go along with 11 digs. Ryann Lowery added 21 assists. Mary Horner totaled 21 digs.
 
Emily Perkins led Colorado College with 22 kills and 26 digs. Anna Clithero added 16 kills and 14 digs. Annie Bernacchi had 25 assists and 11 digs wile Amy Schornack added 15 assists.
 
The Tigers improve to 27-11 and will meet Emory in the second round Friday at 4:30 pm. Christopher Newport finishes the year 33-7.
