NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 7-0 shutout of Mary Baldwin Saturday night on Senior Night.

 

The Captains struck early and often, scoring three times in the first six minutes.

 

Emily Chesbro's goal in the fourth minute proved to be the game-winner. Kendall Dishaw scored nine seconds later and Amanda Peters scored in the seventh minute. CNU led 5-0 at the half and got two more goals in the opening stanza from Marica Betoney and Candace Thompson.

 

Ann Marie Latess scored both of the Captains goals in the second half.

 

Christopher Newport out-shot the Squirrels, 14-2. Erin Wojtkun picked up the shutout win while making one save in goal.

 

Mary Baldwin finishes the year 0-18 overall and 0-9 in the USA South. The Captains are now 12-6-1 on the year and 9-0 in conference play.

 

CNU will be the number one seed and host the USA South Conference Final Four next Friday and Saturday. Christopher Newport will host Averett on Tuesday night at 7 pm in a quarterfinal contest.
