FERRUM, VA – Christopher Newport's volleyball squad swept of pair of matches on the final day of the regular season and finished undefeated in USA South play and will host the USA South Final Four next weekend.
The Captains defeated Averett in the first match of the day, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14.
Christopher Newport finished the evening by sweeping Ferrum by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-18.
Ellen Koch led the Captains with nine kills and six digs. Heavenrich finished with 20 assists and three aces as Lowery added 17 assists and four digs. Allie Wolfe had 10 digs and Horner finished with nine digs.
CNU concludes the regular season 30-6 overall and 18-0 in USA South play. It's the second straight year the Captains have gone undefeated in conference play. CNU dropped just one set during USA South action. It's also the fifth time in program history CNU has won 30 or more matches in a season.
No. 8 Peace will play No. 9 Mary Baldwin at 5 pm Tuesday in a play-in match. The winner will meet the Captains at 7:30 pm in a quarterfinal match. CNU will also host the semifinals and finals beginning Friday at 5 pm.
