NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad extended its winning streak to seven with a 2-0 win over USA South rival Greensboro Saturday afternoon.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half and Shelby Walters scored the eventual game-winner in the 49th minute off a nice pass from Caitlin Maat.
Kendall Dishaw served a ball from the right corner to the far side and Amanda Peters was there for the header for the second goal.
CNU out-shot the Pride, 15-6. Dineen Sampson played the first half in goal and made no saves and Erin Wojtkun played the second half and made three stops.
GC falls to 3-6-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play. Christopher Newport is now 7-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the USA South. CNU returns to action Wednesday when they host VA Wesleyan at 7 pm.
