WINCHESTER, VA – Christopher Newport's Volleyball team defeated the Hornets of Shenandoah University on Wednesday night by a final score of 3-0 and clinched a share of the USA South regular season title.

 

NC Wesleyan is second with two losses in conference play, one win this weekend and CNU will clinch the title out-right and host the USA South Final Four next weekend.

 

The Captains won in convincing fashion as they would outscore the Hornets in total points by a mark of 75-32.

 

The scores to the three sets were 25-11, 25-10, and 25-11.

 

CNU was led by multiple tandem efforts as Jessie Heavenrich and Ryann Lowery combined for 37 assists, Ellen Koch and Liz Bush shared 23 kills, and on defense Allie Wolfe and Mary Horner combined for 18 digs.

 

Christopher Newport improves to 28-6 on the season, and a perfect 16-0 in USA South Conference play.

 

The Captains will play again this weekend when the travel to Ferrum, VA for a USA South Tri-Match against Ferrum College and Averett University.
