Box Score LEXINGTON, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey squad, ranked 17th in the nation, lost 3-2 in overtime at Washington & Lee Sunday.
The Generals got on the board first in the 18th minute, and the score remained that way at halftime.
CNU came out and scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second stanza.
Kim Tomlin scored unassisted in the 45
th minute and
Anne Gehring put the Captains ahead 2-1 with Tomlin assisting in the 51
st minute.
The Generals tied the game I with less then five minutes remaining in regulation and scored the game-winner just 4:25 into the first overtime period.
Washington & Lee is now 9-8 on the year and Christopher Newport falls to 11-5. CNU returns to action Friday or Saturday in the Independent Team Tournament hosted by Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.
