LEXINGTON, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey squad, ranked 17^th in the nation, lost 3-2 in overtime at Washington & Lee Sunday.

 

The Generals got on the board first in the 18^th minute, and the score remained that way at halftime.

 

CNU came out and scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second stanza. Kim Tomlin scored unassisted in the 45^th minute and Anne Gehring put the Captains ahead 2-1 with Tomlin assisting in the 51^st minute.

 

The Generals tied the game I with less then five minutes remaining in regulation and scored the game-winner just 4:25 into the first overtime period.

 

Washington & Lee is now 9-8 on the year and Christopher Newport falls to 11-5. CNU returns to action Friday or Saturday in the Independent Team Tournament hosted by Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.
