NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's volleyball team cruised to a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night, as they took down the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College.
The scores for the four sets were 25-20, 25-8, 20-25, 25-17.
The Captains were paced by
Jessie Heavenrich's 29 assists and 8 digs. Also coming up big for CNU were three senior players posting double digit kills.
Ellen Koch had 13, while
Liz Bush and
Allison Wolfe posted 12 each. Wolfe also added double digit digs, with a mark of 14.
CNU also had some standout numbers from sophomores
Ryann Lowery and
Mary Horner. Lowery tacked on 17 assists and 9 digs, while Horner had 17 digs of her own.
The Captains improve to 24-6 overall, and will be home again this Friday evening at 7:00pm. CNU will take on Bridgewater College, and will host their 'Senior Night' as it is their last regular game of the season.
