FERRUM, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad defeated Ferrum 3-1 in a USA South match Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers struck first in the 28th minute when they shot one home off a corner kick. CNU responded with three straight unanswered goals.
Emily Chesbro tied the score in the 59th minute off a pass from Katie Jaywork. Brittany Revels scored the game-winner in the 77th minute with Chesbro assisting. Chesbro tacked on an insurance goal just 18 seconds later with Meghan Conheeney getting the assist.
Erin Wojtkun started and played the first half and did not make a save. Dineen Sampson recorded the win by playing the second half and stopping one shot.
The Panthers fall to 4-9-1 overall and 2-4 in the USA South. Christopher Newport improves to 9-5-1 on the year and 6-0 in conference play. The Captains return to action Saturday when they host Methodist with kick-off set for 5 pm.
