CNU scored once in each half. It was Kim Tomlin's goal in the opening stanza off a pass from Haylie Black that proved to be the game-winner.
Ashley Cybulski scored an insurance goal late in the second half with Nicole Kuykendall assisting.
The Captains out-shot the Seahawks, 9-7. Emma Stout recorded the shutout in the cage and made five stops.
St. Mary's falls to 7-7 overall while Christopher Newport improves to 11-4. CNU returns to action next Sunday when they head to Washington & Lee with start time set for 2 pm.
