DANVILLE, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer team dominated Averett with a 6-0 win over the Cougars Saturday afternoon.

The Captains, after a 10-day respite, came out firing on all cylinders, scoring four times in the first and adding two more goals in the second half.

Emily Chesbro scored twice in the first 20 minutes, putting the game well out of reach. Lauren Fleming also scored twice, Brittany Revels and Candace Thompson each scored in the win.

Ann Marie Latess finished with two assists as Katie Jaywork and Britta McDonnell both had one each in the win.

CNU out-shot Averett, 21-2. Dineen Sampson picked up the shutout, making two saves in the win.

The Cougars fall to 7-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the USA South. Christopher Newport improves to 8-5-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. CNU returns to action Sunday when they travel to Ferrum with kick-off set for 2 pm.
