Volleyball Splits A Pair Of Matches On Day Two Of Wash. U Tournament

ST. LOUIS, MO – Christopher Newport's volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the Washington University Tournament Saturday afternoon.

 

The Captains opened the day by taking on fourth-ranked Washington (MO). CNU lost the match in three, losing by scores of 25-22, 25-12, and 25-17.

 

Ellen Koch, Sarah Brown, Allie Wolfe and Becca Davis all had five kills a piece. Wolfe also led CNU with 12 digs. Ryann Lowery finished with 14 assists.

 

Christopher Newport concluded the tournament by defeating Williams, 3-1. CNU won by scores of 20-25, 25-11, 25-10, and 25-23.

 

Koch paced the Captains with 16 kills and Bush finished with 10.

 

Jessie Heavenrich paced CNU with 29 kills and 12 digs. Lowery added 13 assists and 11 digs. Wolfe and Horner added 18 digs each.

 

Koch was named to the All-Tournament squad.

 

The Captains are now 20-5 on the year. CNU returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Mary Baldwin for a double-header beginning at 5 pm.
