Box Score LEXINGTON, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey squad, tied for 20th in the nation, shut out Kenyon (OH) 2-0 Saturday in a neutral site game played at Washington & Lee.
The Captains scored one goal in each half. Katelyn Yandle's goal off a feed from Kim Tomlin on a penalty corner proved to be all the scoring CNU would need.
Tomlin added an insurance goal with Nicole Kuykendall assisting, also off a penalty corner, in the second half.
Christopher Newport out-shot Kenyon, 14-1. Emma Stout picked up the shutout while making just one stop.
Kenyon falls to 6-6 overall while CNU improves to 10-3. The Captains return to action Monday when they host Ursinus at 12 pm.
