Women Finish Fourth, Men Place Seventh At Carnegie Mellon Invitational

PITTSBURGH, PA – Christopher Newport's women's cross country squad finished fourth while the men's team placed seventh at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational held Saturday afternoon.

 

Indiana University of Pennsylvania won the event, followed by Northern Kentucky, Carnegie Mellon, CNU and Franciscan.

 

Amy Wampler finished ninth overall with a time of 19:20. Megan Roberts placed 13th in 19:55, Dira Hansen was 19th with a time of 20:07, Brooke Rowe had a time of 20:33 to finish in 26th position and Edie Nault was 48th in 21:31 to round out the top five runners for the Captains.

 

On the men's side, Carnegie Mellon finished first, followed by Northern Kentucky, Duquesne, California University of PA, and Indiana Univ. of PA.

 

David Woodson finished third overall in 25:42. Corey Lofton placed 25th with a time of 27:01, Nate Huffman placed 60th with a time of 28:17, Kyle Oakes finished with a time of 28:55 and finished in 76th position, and Andrew Johnson was 78th overall with a mark of 29:05.

 

CNU returns to action October 25 when they head to Lancaster, PA for the Battle of the Buggy Short Course Invitational.
