NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's men's soccer team snapped a two-match losing streak by defeating No. 17 Kean by a score of 8-1 Saturday night on day two of the Joe Pombriant/CNU Classic.
Tyler Clare scored his fourth goal of the year in the 8th minute to put the Captains on top with Kevin Greenberg assisting. In the 24th minute, the Falcons Anthony Tuesta scored unassisted to knot the score at 1-1.
Michael Caro scored the eventual game-winner just 14 seconds later with Greenberg tallying assist number two.
Caro would add another score as Kenny Huttman, Matt Page, Brian Tweed and Jimmy Majewski each scored once. CNU's sixth score came via an own goal.
Jimmy Hash finished with two assist while Bryan Davis, Kyle Allan and Chris Thome each notched one helper apiece.
Christopher Newport out-shot Kean, 21-4. Matt Tengs stopped one shot for the Captains.
CNU improves to 2-2 on the year. Christopher Newport returns to action next Saturday as they travel to nationally-ranked York (PA) with kick-off set for 2:30 pm.
