FERRUM, VA – Christopher Newport's men's soccer team scored six times in the second half en-route to a 7-0 win over Ferrum in USA South play Sunday.
The Captains scored just one in the opening half on Kyle Allan's unassisted goal with three minutes left in the first stanza.
In the second half, CNU erupted for six goals. Andrew Carver scored twice, John Corser, Brian Tweed, Stephen Harrell and Michael Caro each scored once in the second period.
Caro, James Nugent, Chris Thome and Jimmy Majewski each had one assist in the win.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Panthers, 25-2. Tommy Vieten played the entire game in goal for the Captains and did not have to make a save.
CNU improves to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the USA South. Ferrum falls to 1-6-1 on the year and 0-2 in conference action.
The Captains return to action Wednesday as they host Shenandoah with kick-off set for 7 pm.
