DANVILLE, VA – Christopher Newport's men's soccer team rebounded after a loss in overtime to VA Wesleyan on Wednesday with a 2-0 win at Averett Saturday.
The Captains scored twice in the first half, with Michael Caro scoring the game's eventual winner in the seventh minute off a pass from Kevin Greenberg.
Kyle Allan connected for the second CNU goal off of Brian Tweed's corner kick attempt in the 18th minute.
CNU out-shot the Cougars, 37-4. Matt Tengs played the first half and had to make no saves. Sophomore Brandon Watson saw his first collegiate action playing the second half and did not have to make a save.
The Captains are now 5-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play. CNU returns to action Sunday as they travel to Ferrum with kick-off set for 2 pm.
