NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team ran its win streak to seven straight Wednesday with a 2-0 win over cross-water rival VA Wesleyan.

Diana Golden put the Captains on top with 27 seconds left in the first half on an assist from Kylie Cale.

In the second half, Stephanie Bair connected on a penalty stroke with 9:03 left to play to put CNU up 2-0.

The Captains out-shot the Marlins, 23-0. Elexa Nosonchuk made no saves in the cage for Christopher Newport. It was also the fifth straight shutout for the Captains and the third in a row for Nosonchuk.

CNU improves to 7-1 on the year and they return to action Saturday when they travel to Lynchburg with start time set for 2 pm
