NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer team rolled to its second straight USA South win by shutting out Meredith 5-0 Saturday evening.
The Captains scored twice in the first half and added three more in the second stanza.
Sam Ciaravino scored the first of her two goals in the 9th minute with Megan Conheeney assisting. The second CNU goal in the half was scored by Jenn Campbell off a pass from Logan Boon.
In the second half, Christopher Newport increased its lead to 3-0 on Conheeney's unassisted score. Ciaravino scored her second of the game in the 60th minute on an assist by Conheeney. Campbell scored the fifth and final goal for the Captains, also her second of the contest with the assists going to Joanna Pollak and Boon.
CNU out-shot the Angels, 19-6. Erin Wojtkun had three saves in net for the Captains.
Meredith falls to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Christopher Newport improves to 5-2 on the year and 2-0 in the USA South.
The Captains return to action Sunday as they host Peace at 4 pm.
