Men's Soccer Drops 5-2 Decision At Top-Ranked York (PA)

YORK, PA - Christopher Newport's men's soccer squad traveled to No. 1 York on Saturday and lost 5-2 to the Spartans.

York scored once in the first half on Justin Suchoski's goal in the 44th minute to lead 1-0 at the half. The Spartans then scored twice in a minute and one second to increase their lead to 3-0.

The Captains Brock Hughes took a feed from Tyler Clare and scored on a breakaway in the 65th minute to cut the lead to 3-1.

York responded with two goals 40 seconds apart late in the second half to lead 5-1. Michael Caro then beat two defenders and slid a shot underneath York keeper Kyle Marks in the 90th minute for the final margin.

The Spartans out-shot the Captains, 13-7. Matt Tengs had four saves in net for CNU.

York improves to 6-0 on the year while Christopher Newport falls to 2-3. CNU returns to action Sunday as they travel to Villa Julie with kick-off set for 1 pm.
