NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's men's soccer team allowed two second half goals as No. 1 Messiah won 3-1 on day two of the VCAM/CNU Classic.

The Captains Tyler Clare scored his third goal in two games in the 27th minute unassisted to put CNU on top, 1-0. Just minutes before the end of the first half, the Falcons Brett Faro knotted the score at 1-1 on a penalty kick.

In the second half, Sean Cunningham broke the tie in the 50th minute unassisted. Geoff Pezon added an insurance goal in the 84th minute with Matt Dorsey assisting.

Messiah out-shot the Captains, 17-5. Matt Tengs had five saves in goal for CNU.

Both teams are now 1-1 on the year. Christopher Newport returns to action Friday as they host The College of New Jersey at 7:30 pm on day one of the Joe Pombriant/CNU Classic.
