Box Score WESTMINSTER, MD – Christopher Newport's field hockey team kept its winning streak alive as the No. 5 Captains defeated McDaniel 3-2 Wednesday afternoon.
Haylie Black sent a ball in from the top as Diana Golden got a stick on it and deflected it in the cage for the first goal of the game to put CNU on top 1-0.
In the 21st minute, Black played another ball in front of the cage that this time was tapped home by Brittney Touchard to put the Captains ahead 2-0.
The Green Terror cut the lead in half in the 68th minute but Anna Stout scored with 43 seconds left to put Christopher Newport back on top by two, 3-1.
McDaniel scored as time expired for the final margin.
CNU out-shot the Green Terror, 10-6. Elexa Nosonchuk played 52:15 in goal and did not allow a goal and did not make a save. Emma Stout played the final 17:45, allowed two goals and stopped one shot.
The Captains have now won 12 in a row and improve to 12-1 on the year. McDaniel is now 5-8. CNU returns to action Saturday as they host Bridgewater at 3:30 pm.
